갤러리 지우헌은 북촌에 함께 자리하고 있는 페이지룸8과 함께 2025년 첫 전시 《옥토 OCTO-》를 1월 21일부터 2월 22일까지 공동 개최합니다.
본 전시는 2024년까지 두 공간의 기획전에 참여한 작가 38명이 함께 합니다.
전시명 "옥토-"는 페이지룸8의 '8'에서 차용한 것으로, 'Octo'는 라틴어로 '8'을 의미하는 어원이며 페이지룸8이 지향하는 전시 공간으로서의 무한한 지속성을 상징합니다.
특별히 2025년의 《옥토-》는 페이지룸8과 갤러리 지우헌이 함께 공동으로 열게 되면서 전시 개념이 확장되었습니다. 앞으로 갤러리가 추구할 지속성이 어느 하나의 공간에만 머무르지 않고 갤러리가 가질 수 있는 수많은 역할 모델을 큐레이션 하면서 새로운 형태의 협업과 프로젝트 등으로 공간들이 서로 상생하며 발전할 수 있음을 시사합니다.

Hello. Pageroom8 and Jiwooheon in Bukchon will co-host their first exhibition of 2025, 《OCTO-》 from Tuesday, January 21 to Saturday, February 22.
‘Octo’ is of Latin origin meaning ‘8’ and symbolizes the infinite sustainability of Pageroom8. In particular, the concept of "Octo" was expanded in 2025, when Pageroom8 and Jiwooheon co-organized Octo. Until 2024, 38 artists participated in the exhibition organized by Pageroom8 and Jiwooheon.
This exhibition will be an opportunity to share the various languages presented by the works in a loose and intimate relationship between artist, space, and audience through the exhibition of two spaces in Bukchon, three minutes apart. We look forward to seeing many of you.

북촌에 있는 두 공간 페이지룸8[페이지룸 에잇]과 지우헌(知尤軒)이 2025년 첫 전시 《옥토 OCTO-》를 공동 개최한다. “옥토”는 페이지룸8의 ‘8’에서 차용한 것으로, ‘Octo’는 라틴어로 ‘8’을 의미하는 어원이다. 페이지룸8은 2021년 3월, 북촌에 공간을 만든 이후로 새해 연례 기획전 《옥토》를 통해 공간의 정체성이 되어준 작가들의 작품 1점씩을 모아 전시 커뮤니티 를 만들어 오고 있다. 특별히 2025 올사년 《옥토》는 갤러리 지우헌이 함께하면서 “옥토” 개념이 확장되었다. 참여 작가 38명(페이지룸8 24명, 지우헌 14명)은 페이지룸8과 지우헌 두 공간에 각각 1점씩(총 2점)을 출품하여 《옥토》 전시를 통해 연대하게 되었다. 앞으로 갤러 리가 추구할 지속성과 역할 모델을 독창적으로 큐레이션하면서 새로운 형태의 협업과 프로 젝트 등으로 공간들이 서로 상생하며 발전할 수 있음을 시사한다.
이번 전시는 현재 활발하게 활동 중인 작가 38명의 작품을 통해 장르별 현대미술 경향을 가늠하고 작가별 독창적인 표현 양식을 통해 작가의 작품 세계를 단편적으로나마 이해할 수 있는 기회를 선사한다. ―사진(조경재), 한국화(김선형, 황예랑), 드로잉(고니, 맹일선, 문정, 안소희, 이승현), 판화(김가슬, 라킴, 윤일권, 지야솔, 한지민), 입체/도자(김매리, 류예준, 박종 진, 슈니따, 오제성, 유의정, 잇은, 정관, 허담, 허상욱), 회화(미쿠츠치야, 박현성, 손지영, 송 수민, 신준민, 양화선, 유리, 윤석원, 이영욱, 임순남, 임지현, 정직성, 조재, 조현선, 해요)― 페이지룸8은 드로잉 요소 중심으로 구성한 2인전 “셰도우 에스키스”와 판화 장르 특화 전 시, “모나드 판화” 등 전시와 아티스트북의 지속성을 표방하며 정체성을 구축하고 있다. 지우헌은 흙을 다루는 입체/도자 작가들의 기획 초대전을 심층적으로 열고 한옥 공간에서 스며나오는 아우라와 작품의 조화가 탁월하다. ㈜디자인하우스 인터뷰를 통해 자체 아카이브 를 밀도 있게 쌓고 있다.
각 전시 공간에서 개인전과 단체전을 통해 선보인 참여 작가들의 작품들을 반추해 보는 것 은 의미 있는 일이다. 그 이유는 전시를 중추에 두고 당시에 미처 알지 못한 것들이 해가 바뀐 오늘에서야 무심코 사유할 수 있는 어떤 것이 될 수 있기 때문이다. 전시를 소환하며 불러일으켜지는 사소한 반성 거리들과 지금에 와서 새삼 느끼는 것들은 결코 사소하지 않으며, 작가와 기획자에게 점진적인 발전을 위한 한 걸음이 되어준다.
그리고 《옥토》는 작가와 공간 그리고 관람자들이 이루는 느슨하고도 끈끈한 관계의 틈에서 작품이 제시하는 다양한 언어를 공유하는 자리가 될 것이다. 페이지룸8과 지우헌을 오가는 3분 남짓한 시간 또한 이번 전시를 더욱 풍성하고 의미 있게 만들어주리라 생각한다.

Two spaces in Bukchon - PAGEROOM8 and JIWOOHEON - are jointly hosting their first exhibition of 2025, "OCTO-". The title "OCTO-" is borrowed from PAGEROOM8's '8', as 'Octo' is the Latin root meaning '8'. Since establishing its space in Bukchon in March 2021, PAGEROOM8 has been building an exhibition community through its annual New Year exhibition "OCTO-", collecting one piece each from artists who have shaped the space's identity. For 2025's Year of the Snake, "OCTO-" has expanded its concept through collaboration with Gallery JIWOOHEON. The 38 participating artists (24 from PAGEROOM8, 14 from JIWOOHEON) will each exhibit two pieces - one in each space - creating solidarity through the "OCTO" exhibition. This suggests how galleries can develop and thrive together through new forms of collaboration and projects while curating their own distinctive models of sustainability and roles.
This exhibition offers an opportunity to gauge current trends in contemporary art across different genres and glimpse into each artist's unique world through their distinctive expressions, featuring works by 38 actively practicing artists: Photography (Cho Kyoungjae), Korean Painting (Kim Sunhyoung, Hwang Yerang), Drawing (Goni, Maeng Ilsun, Moon Jung, Ahn Sohee, Lee Seunghyun), Printmaking (Kim Gaseul, La Kim, Yoon Ilkwon, Jiyasol, Han Jimin), Sculpture/Ceramics (Kim Mary, Ryu Yejun, Park Jongjin, Shunita, Oh Jeisung, Yoo Euijeong, Itt_eun, Jeong Kwan, Hur Dam, Huh Sangwook), Painting (Miku Tsuchiya, Park Hyunsung, Son Jiyoung, Song Sumin, Shin Junmin, Yang Hwaseon, Yoori, Yoon Sukwon, Yi Younguk, Lim Soonnam, Im Jihyun, Jeong Zikseong, Jojae, Jo Hyunsun, Heyo). PAGEROOM8 has established its identity through exhibitions focusing on drawing elements like "Shadow Esquisse" and specialized printmaking exhibitions like "Monad Print", while maintaining continuity in exhibitions and artist books. JIWOOHEON has deeply explored ceramic artists through curated invitational exhibitions, excellently harmonizing works with the aura emanating from its hanok space. They are building a substantial archive through interviews with Design House Inc.
It is meaningful to reflect on the works these participating artists have shown through solo and group exhibitions in each space. This is because, with exhibition at the core, things we didn't fully grasp at the time can become objects of casual contemplation today, a year later. The minor reflections and newfound realizations that arise when recalling exhibitions are far from trivial, serving as stepping stones for the gradual development of both artists and curators.
And "OCTO-" will be a place to share the diverse languages presented by the artworks in the gaps between the loose yet tight relationships among artists, spaces, and viewers. We believe that even the roughly three-minute walk between PAGEROOM8 and JIWOOHEON will make this exhibition all the more rich and meaningful.
