갤러리 지우헌은 1월 20일부터 2월 21일까지 ㈜디자인하우스 매거진을 대표하는 사진기자 4인과, 유럽 빈티지 가구를 소개하는 브랜드 라보엘 빈티지(Laboel Vintage)가 함께하는 전시를 개최한다. 이번 전시는 디자인하우스 매거진에 실렸던 사진을 재편집한 작품 14점과 라보엘 빈티지가 유럽 전역에서 수집한 가구 18점으로 구성된다.
참여 작가 이우경, 이기태, 이경옥, 이창화는 ㈜디자인하우스에서 15년 이상 활동하며 '행복이 가득한 집', '월간디자인', '럭셔리', '스타일H' 등 주요 간행물과 광고를 촬영해 왔다. 이들은 각기 다른 개성으로 상업 사진과 예술 사진의 경계를 넘나들며 이미지를 통해 감성과 정보를 전달한다.
전시는 사진기자 4인의 다양한 시선을 보여준다. 이우경은 한국의 이미지를 사계절 전통 요리로 담아냈고, 이기태는 식재료와 생활자기를 조합해 모던한 풍경을 구성했다. 이경옥은 자연 식재료를 회화적으로 표현했으며, 이창화는 테이블 위 풍경을 감성적인 컬러로 연출했다.
사진과 함께 전시의 또 다른 축을 이루는 것은 라보엘 빈티지가 선보이는 빈티지 가구다. 라보엘 빈티지는 유럽의 도시와 마을을 거치며 수십 년의 시간을 축적한 가구를 소개하는 브랜드로, 단순한 제품을 넘어 그 뒤에 얽힌 사람과 장소, 에피소드를 함께 전한다.
그중에서도 20세기 디자이너 가구 컬렉션이 전시의 중심을 이룬다. 1970년대 이탈리아 모더니즘의 선구자 마시모 비녤리(Massimo Vignelli)와 렐라 비녤리(Lella Vignelli) 부부가 함께 만든 메타포라(Metafora) 테이블, 조각가 아드리아노 피아쩨시(Adriano Piazzesi)의 오케이 컬렉션 라운지 체어와 오토만, 찰스 레니 맥킨토시(Charles Rennie Mackintosh)의 DS2 테이블 등 국내에서 보기 드문 가구들을 선보인다.
본 전시는 편집자의 시선으로 포착된 공간과 오브제, 그리고 수십 년의 시간을 품은 가구가 만나 새로운 공간을 완성한다. 이상적인 대상이 실제 오브제와 만나는 순간, 편집된 이미지는 경험 가능한 장소가 된다.
Gallery Jiwooheon will present an exhibition from January 20 to February 21, featuring four photographers representing DesignHouse Magazine and Laboel Vintage, a brand specializing in European vintage furniture. The exhibition comprises 14 photographic works re-edited from images previously published in DesignHouse Magazine and 18 pieces of furniture collected by Laboel Vintage from across Europe.
Participating artists Lee Wookyung, Lee Kitae, Lee Kyungok, and Lee Changhwa have been active at DesignHouse for over 15 years, photographing major publications such as Home Living Korea, Monthly Design, Luxury, and Style H, as well as commercial advertisements. Each with their distinct sensibility, they traverse the boundaries between commercial and fine art photography, conveying emotion and information through images.
The exhibition showcases the diverse perspectives of the four photographers. Lee Wookyung captures Korean imagery through seasonal traditional cuisine, while Lee Kitae composes modern tableaux by combining ingredients with everyday ceramics. Lee Kyungok renders natural ingredients in a painterly manner, and Lee Changhwa stages tablescapes with evocative colors.
Alongside the photographs, another pillar of the exhibition is the vintage furniture presented by Laboel Vintage. Founded on the belief that furniture carries stories, Laboel Vintage introduces pieces accumulated over decades from European cities and towns, conveying not merely products but the people, places, and stories woven into them.
At the heart of the exhibition is a collection of 20th-century designer furniture. Featured pieces include the Metafora table created by Italian modernist pioneers Massimo Vignelli and Lella Vignelli in the 1970s, sculptor Adriano Piazzesi's OK Collection lounge chair and ottoman, and Charles Rennie Mackintosh's DS2 table—furniture rarely seen in Korea.
This exhibition brings together spaces and objects captured through an editor's lens with furniture that embodies decades of history, creating a new spatial experience. When idealized subjects meet actual objects, edited images become inhabitable places.

라보엘 빈티지가 소개하는 가구는 밀라노를 비롯한 유럽의 도시와 작은 마을을 거치며 수십 년의 시간을 축적해온 오브제들입니다. 가구를 만나는 과정에서 마주한 장소와 사람, 그리고 그에 얽힌 에피소드까지 함께 전하며, 단순한 제품을 넘어 ‘이야기가 있는 빈티지’를 제안합니다.
갤러리 지우헌은 ㈜디자인하우스에서 운영하는 전시공간으로 북촌 한옥마을에 위치하고 있다. 한옥을 개조한 독특한 구조로 전통적인 미감과 현대적인 편의성을 두루 갖추고 있으며, 2016년 서울시 우수한옥으로 선정되었을 만큼 뛰어난 건축미를 갖고 있다. 과거의 역사를 담고 있는 공간에서 현대미술을 조명하는 시공간적 특징을 가진 갤러리로서 동시대 미술의 흐름에 동참하며 국내·외 신진작가 발굴과 후원에 힘쓰고 있다.
Gallery Jiwooheon is an exhibition venue operated by Designhouse, Inc., located in Bukchon Hanok Village. It was selected as the 2016 Seoul Excellent Hanok for its distinctive structure remodeled from a hanok, which offers both traditional aesthetics and contemporary convenience and has remarkable architectural beauty. It aspires to identify outstanding new artists at home and abroad while supporting the trend of contemporary art as a gallery with temporal and spatial qualities that shines a light on contemporary art in a space possessing the history of the past.
